This is probably one of the most exciting experiences we’ve had so far. We're talking goosebumps-level exciting.
Here’s the story.
We set out to explore the “unknown” region of Molise to create some fresh content for our Community Casa Local Aromas. Our local guide recommended a visit to a historic bell foundry.
And we thought … Sure! Sounds cool!
We didn't know what to expect.
We were astounded. Utterly speechless. It felt like stepping into a dream.
The place we visited is the Pontificia Fonderia di Campane Marinelli in Agnone, Molise. It is a location that's far from ordinary.
This foundry holds the distinction of being the world's oldest dedicated to bell making. It's also the second oldest family-run business globally, with the 27th generation of the Marinelli family upholding the longstanding tradition of bell crafting. And last but not least, it is the only foundry in the world granted the privilege by the Vatican to bear the Pontifical coat of arms, which is reflected in its name "Pontificia".
The Marinelli family had a surprise waiting for us …
Wow, love this 🧡
