If I were to ask you, “What should I drink in Italy?”
I know what you’re thinking … wine, prosecco, SPRITZ!!! 🥂
Sure, those are all great answers, but there’s another one you might not expect: local craft beer! 🍺
It all started in 1996.
Before then, finding quality Italian beer was nearly impossible. You had to go out of your way to find one of the rare pubs run by passionate and knowledgeable owners.
So, what changed in 1996?
That was the year small breweries began to pop up, sparking a revolution in Italian brewing.
Birra artigianale, or craft beer in Italian, is defined by law as being brewed by small, independent breweries that avoid pasteurization and micro-filtration. This means each beer retains its natural flavors and aromas, providing a fresh and authentic drinking experience.
Now there are over 1000 local breweries.
So it goes without saying that Italian craft beer is something you should definitely consider trying when visiting Italy.
Agree? 🍻
